German standard flange: What is a flange?
For those engaged in mechanical or engineering installation, flanges should be very familiar. It is a disc shaped component, usually used in pairs. So, what is a flange in German standard?
German standard flange: What is a flange?
1. German standard flanges are mainly used for sealing between pipelines and valves, pipelines and pipelines, pipelines and equipment, etc. Because it is widely used between these equipment and pipelines, the two planes are fixed together with bolts, and the sealing part is called a flange.
2. German standard flanges have a circular hole for fixing. For example, when using flanges at pipe joints, add a sealing ring between the two flanges and tighten them with bolts. The thickness of flanges under different pressures varies, and the bolts used are also different. The main materials used for flanges include carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel. Due to its important role and excellent comprehensive performance, flanges are widely used in industries such as chemical, petrochemical, firefighting, and drainage.
3. As a type of connector, flanges are widely used worldwide, which requires a unified standard. For example, there are two main standard systems for pipeline flanges.
4. They are the European pipeline flange system, represented by German DIN (including Russia) and the American pipeline flange system represented by American ANSI pipeline flanges.
In addition, Japan has a JIS pipe flange system, while China has a GB steel pipe flange system, but the main dimensions are based on European and American systems.
The structure of German standard flange is relatively simple. It consists of upper and lower flange parts, intermediate gaskets, and several bolts and nuts.
7. From the definition of flanges, it can be seen that there are many types of flanges, and their classification needs to be distinguished from different dimensions. For example, flanges can be divided into integral flanges, flat welded flanges, welded flanges, loose flanges, and threaded flanges according to the connection method, which are also common flanges. Integral flanges (IF) are generally used for high-pressure pipelines. It's a flange connection, and it's all long necked. Generally, it is a one-time casting, and the materials used are usually carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.
8. Flat welding flange, also known as tower welding flange, is used for welding when connecting to containers or pipelines. This type of flat welding flange has the characteristics of easy assembly and low price, and is mainly used in pipelines with low pressure and vibration.
9. Welded flanges are also known as high neck flanges. The biggest difference between welded flanges and other flanges is that they have a protruding high neck. The wall thickness protruding from the neck will gradually be the same as the wall thickness and diameter of the pipeline that will be connected to the height, which will increase the strength of the flange. Welding flange 10. It should be used in places with significant environmental changes, such as high-temperature, high-pressure, and low-temperature pipelines. All metals will react with oxygen in the atmosphere and form an oxide film on the surface. However, this type of oxide film has different properties in different metals, such as the loose structure of the oxide film on the surface of ordinary carbon steel pipe parts, with large gaps between rust and rust. There is no way to prevent further erosion of water and air, so the oxidation situation will continue to expand. Contrary to carbon steel pipe fittings, stainless steel fittings can form a dense oxide film on the surface of stainless steel fittings, which can block the progressive oxidation of water and air. This is also the reason why stainless steel has excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance.
